Prophets are often portrayed as lonely figures, and this is true, yet not altogether. With the prophet there is often found a more numerous company of false Prophets. And in their generations the true prophets were by and large despised. One of the most deceptive things about the false prophets of this generation is the fact that they all have Jesus Christ on their lips, and they take up the word of God in their mouth. Yet in their mouth the truth is become a lie, because God is not sending them. This is not a new thing, there are plenty of examples of this in the old testament (Jeremiah is specifically dealt with in this sermon) and Jesus and the Apostles warned of the same thing. Those who take up the word of God, and the Lord has not sent them, end up prophesying treasonous and treacherous things. Claiming blessings out of season, and peace when there is none, and the calamities they promise deliverance from will fall terribly on them and those who hear them.
