Whenever the true word of God is preached it has an effect which either works fruitfulness in the hearer, or sooner or later drives them from among God's people. Jesus illustrated this phenomenon by the parable of the sower of the seed, which is widely not understood, oddly enough though, because it is explained in every Gospel in which it appears (hmmmmm...). In churches where thousands of people are routinely kept from truth, the effect is not observed, because, you see, the sower sows, "The Word of God," which we preach, but they can only pervert. A small fraction of the people who hear the word of God receive it unto fruitfulness. This is more of a commentary than a summary, but let him that has ears hear it.
